The mission of the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy (DMRID) is to transform Cyprus into a modern and digital state, through which we enhance the growth prospects and competitiveness of the Cypriot economy, and facilitate and improve the daily life of citizens.
Our vision is to strengthen Cyprus position as a regional hub for innovation, research, and technology.
The Directorate for Research & Innovation (R&I) is responsible for the development and promotion of the National Strategy for R&I. Furthermore, it formulates and promotes policy measures to support the R&I ecosystem aiming to create the appropriate framework for the development of innovation and the strengthening of innovative entrepreneurship. Additionally, the Directorate supports the proper operation of the R&I governance system and provides funding to ensure the development and functioning of the R&I ecosystem.
A notable example is the development of the Electronic Platform of the Research Infrastructures Registry, an integrated digital tool of strategic importance, which collects, and promotes the utilization of publicly funded research infrastructures in Cyprus.
The Platform enhances the transparency, accessibility, and interconnection of research infrastructures, contributing to their effective use, and, thus, supporting the continuous development of research activity at the national level.
