In the context of our strategic ojective to strengthen the research capacity of national research infrastructures, and to enhance the technology transfer from abroad, Cyprus has entered into agreements with:
ESFRI is a strategic instrument aimed at the scientific integration of Europe, identifying and supporting the development of world-class research infrastructures (RIs) in various fields, as well as encouraging cooperation between EU Member States and other countries to conduct high-level research.
The mission of ESFRI is to support a coherent and strategy-led approach to policy-making on RIs in Europe, and to facilitate multilateral initiatives leading to the better use and development of RIs, at EU and at international level.
This strategy aims at overcoming the limits due to fragmentation of individual policies and provides Europe with the most up-to-date RIs, responding to the rapidly evolving Science frontiers, advancing also the knowledge-based technologies and their extended use.
ESFRI has research consortiums (Landmarks and Projects), each of them may consisted of research organizations from different countries, so that instead of each country acting separately, cooperation and the exchange of know-how are promoted and encouraged, in order to improve the use and development of RIs.
The participation of national research organizations in ESFRI RIs is very important as it gives researchers the opportunity to have (a) access to well-equipped and advanced facilities, (b) collaborate with high-level researchers and research organizations from around the world to acquire know-how and networking opportunities, and (c) easier access to European research funding programs, due to the increased visibility and recognition of ESFRI facilities.
