Research Infrastructure Registry in Cyprus

BioMERA microCT facility

GENERAL INFORMATION

Description and purpose of the Research Infrastructure
The mission of the BioMERA platform is the creation of a new, distinct research unit, involving the acquisition of a microCT facility, unique in Cyprus, and rare in the region, for researchers in various domains. BioMERA microCT is a sister facility to the tomography beamline at the SESAME synchrotron, Jordan. Objective: The microCT is crucial to the advanced level research onto past and present human health in Cyprus and in particular, to the diagnosis of diseases in Cypriot populations, as well as the assessment of drug action, impact and efficacy through an advanced method of imaging. The microCT will also enable the non-destructive analysis of the unique tissue samples, material samples, geological, pharmaceutical and archaeological samples at the laboratory and synchrotron.
