Description and purpose of the Research Infrastructure
The scope of the Laboratory is the contribution to the control and prevention of environmental pollution. The laboratory offers supportive services to the competent Authorities which have the responsibility for the implementation of the legislation related to the Environment. In collaboration with the competent Authorities (The Department of Inspection of the Ministry of labour, the Fisheries Department, the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural resources, the Water Development Department) the laboratory develops and implements programs for monitoring the efficiency of domestic waste treatment plants, the quality of sea water and sea sediments and the quality of air.
