Experimental Condensed Matter Physics Laboratory

GENERAL INFORMATION

Description and purpose of the Research Infrastructure

The Experimental Condensed Matter Physics Laboratory (ECMPL) is led by Associate Professor Grigorios Itskos at the Physics Department of the University of Cyprus. The laboratory is equipped with advanced steady-state and time-resolved optical spectroscopy techniques that span from the UV to near-IR region, with possibility for cryogenic experiments. Optical spectroscopy is supported by optical, confocal and atomic force microscopy techniques, basic electro-optical characterization and solution-processed thin film deposition techniques. Current lab activities concentrate on studies of semiconductor (nano)materials for optoelectronic applications with emphasis on the spectroscopy and photonic applications of quantum dots.
